Blogger Spotlight: Me!

It's May!! I actually can't even begin to think about how fast time is going, what's going on??!!
Another month means another Blogger Spotlight but this time it comes with a twist...
I haven't asked anyone to take part this month as I wanted to make this one about me and my blog. I wanted to give you my answers to the questions and tell you guys about my blogging journey, something I haven't really spoken about in detail before. Lots of changes are coming soon in my life so I wanted to take this opportunity to keep you guys in the loop with what's happening now so thats when the changes do come I can update you accordingly :)

What kind of content can you find on my blog?
My blog is all about fitness, food and a healthy lifestyle. I share my journey through fitness and life, things I like and dislike, healthy travel guides and lots of healthy recipes; mainly sweet treats but I am working on sharing more savoury stuff :)

How long have I been blogging?
I’ve been blogging since 2015- it began as a bit of fun and the first couple of years were very sporadic and random! I didn’t even tell people about my blog for the first few months!!

What made me choose to start a blog and why did I choose the subject/s I blog about?
I started my blog for no particular reason really. I saw other people blogging and enjoyed reading their blogs so I thought ‘why can’t I have a go?!’. I set out to only write about fitness related stuff; things that I enjoyed and experiences I had. I didn’t want to give advice as such as at the time I wasn’t qualified but I just wanted to share my journey and things that worked for me. Fitness was very much my thing at the time so it seemed like the perfect subject to write about.

During the beginning of my blog I also started to enjoy cooking and baking a lot more and found that actually, I aint’ all that bad at it! So that’s when the healthy recipes side of my blog became a thing too.

Where do I find inspiration from for my blog?
In terms of recipes my main sources of inspiration are Instagram, Pinterest and websites such as BBC Good Food. I love seeking out both traditional and new recipes and putting a healthy twist on them.

For blogs my inspiration comes from my everyday lifestyle. I love to travel so healthy travel guides and my top picks for places play a big role on my blog. I also love sharing my favourite things of the moment so I will often write blogs around this subject. I sometimes write about trending topics too; back in January I wrote about Veganism and Conscious Living- you can read those articles here and here.

I also love including other people on my blog. I very much believe that if you are going to give advice/help you need to be qualified in that area so I like to get others involved to add qualified advice and comments into my articles and blogs. If I want to write a whole post about a subject I’m not qualified in I will gather information from qualified professionals or ask them to write the full post.

Do I have any big plans for my blog?
For the first year and a half my blog was definitely just a hobby. I never really planned to make it last as long as it has and I certainly never thought it would be part of my job!
My plans are to simply continue writing and sharing my recipes and journey. I don’t currently have any huge plans.

My proudest blog achievement-
My biggest achievement is building my blog to what it is today. I always thought my passion was fitness and that’s it; to a certain extent it still is but, it has allowed me to branch out into other areas and really made me realise where my real passions are.
Having a blog has also brought truly awesome opportunities my way and I am forever thankful for these opportunities.

What has been my biggest blog disaster?
I’ve never really had a disaster per say but, I used to always jump on the latest trends, the latest diets and believed pretty much what every other health and wellness website said. I would quickly jump on the bandwagon and blog about it. Now, I rarely believe anything I read and I always do my own research before commenting or writing about something.

Time is always a big discussion point between bloggers, how do I manage my time?
To be 100% honest, I don’t currently manage my time very well. I work 3 jobs and have recently done a lot of travelling which has meant I’ve had very little time to have a specific schedule and fit things in. My bloggings is very sporadic at the moment and I just try and fit in things when I can. It frustrates me when I don’t get the time I want to blog but sometimes it’s the last thing on my mind when I have a part-time job and clients to train.
I am also a big believer in having time to myself so sometimes I may not blog at all for a few days simply because I’ve not had any me time or time with my husband.

When I am ‘on it’ with my blog I have a schedule. At the end of each month I plan 80% of my content for the following month and give myself deadlines to have the content done, checked and ready to go. I also like to try and work in advance and get ahead of myself so that if there does come a time when I am a little behind or don’t have time to blog, I can relax knowing the work is already done. I usually have daily and weekly to-do lists as well which I will work from each day.

Lastly, where do I see my blog in 5 years time?
Who knows?!
I would love for my blog to still be there and doing well. I hope to still be creating good content and recipes. I also hope to still be working with brands and professionals I love.

I am trying to delve my way into the world of YouTube so I would like this to be a part of my blogging and social channels. I just need to become more confident in front of the camera and stop being so shy when I film around others! My aim is for all my blog recipes to have videos alongside them and I also hope to share more real-time workouts and travel vlogs with everyone.

I would also love to have more professionals and qualified people writing for my blog so that I can bring a variety of health and wellness advice to my followers.

Amie xx
