blogger spotlight: oatsodeliciousAnother month is upon is which can only mean one thing; Blogger Spotlight! This month I am sharing with you one of my favourite bloggers and all-round lovely lady, Sophie from Oatsodelicious. I've been lucky enough to meet Sophie a couple of times at events and she is genuinely such a lovely person! Always smiling and happy, it's awesome! Let's hear all about her and her blog... Blog

I was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease in October 2014, and I adapted to the new lifestyle pretty much from the get-go! I work on my blog in my spare time, however my full time job is in PR/Social Media so I work with both bloggers and brands 24/7! How long have you been blogging and what kind of content can we find on your blog? I have been blogging for just over a year now, and boy has time flew by! You can find healthy breakfast and baking recipes on my blog, all which are 100% gluten free and some which are also dairy free/vegan. Some of my favourite recipes on my blog are my fluffy blueberry pancakes and ultimate gluten free brownies - they’re seriously delicious! You can also find articles that focus around life with Coeliac Disease. What made you choose to start a blog and why did you choose the subject/s you blog about? I used to live and work in London, in Fashion PR (very different to food), however I worked in an office on my own and craved something else to do. In my spare time I loved creating tasty recipes and experimenting with flavour combinations and as I already made porridge/waffles/pancakes every week (yass to breakfast food), starting a blog seemed like an easy transition for me. Where do you find inspiration from for your blog? All the beautiful breakfast bowls on Instagram! I love anything chocolate/banana/peanut butter related, and these flavour combinations feature quite heavily on my blog. I like to take traditional ‘unhealthy’ flavours and re-create them into a recipe that is healthy, gluten free and ultimately delicious. My baking style is pretty much lob-it-all-in-a-bowl and stick it in the fridge, then see what comes out at the end! I like to make quick, easy and no fuss food, so an initial search for ‘no bake’ recipes on Pinterest is one of my starting points for inspiration. Do you have any big plans for your blog? At the moment nothing too major! I’m still only a year into blogging, so my main focus is to keep creating great content and start working with more brands/bloggers and see where it takes me. Tell me about your proudest blog achievement. I think it would have to be coming runner up in the HBC Blog Awards 2017, after only having my blog 6 months - that was pretty great! What has been your biggest blog disaster? When I reached 1000 followers on Instagram I teamed up with a brand for a giveaway, however only around 8 people commented on the post to enter…that was pretty disastrous! Time is always a big discussion point between bloggers, how do you manage your time? For me it’s all about blogging when I’m feeling inspired/in a good head space. I used to push myself to create two recipes a week and I would plan exactly what I would be doing every evening after work. That soon became unmanageable, and I found myself churning out content I wasn’t happy with. Since then, I now only post once a week and surprisingly traffic to my blog hasn’t dropped at all! If I’m too busy one week, or not happy with the recipe/photographs I’ve created, then I simply won’t post them. For me it’s about listening to my mind and body, and only putting out content that I’m truly happy with, regardless of time pressures. Lastly, where do you see your blog in 5 years time? Ooh tough question! I’d love to create a go-to blog for healthy gluten free recipes/articles that can both help and inspire people with Coeliac Disease or gluten intolerance. It'e been an absolute pleasure having Sophie on my blog and, the food porn is real! I love reading about people's personal journeys as well as seeing delicious recipes and topics of interest. It's great that Sophie shares her journey and articles about Coeliac Disease as well as gluten free recipes. All photos provided by Sophie. Amie xx |
