Easter Break in Mallorca

If you have been following my blog and social media for a while you will know that I was lucky enough to be born and raised in sunny and beautiful Mallorca. Up until I was 12 years old I was lucky enough to live here- growing up in such a beautiful and warm place with beautiful scenery and a real chilled out way of life really was something special. At the time I didn't know any better and it was just normal life to me but when I look back now and re-visit Mallorca I see just how truly amazing it really was.
I absolutely love going back and visiting the island and I was lucky enough to visit last weekend for the Easter weekend.
We stayed in a hotel in Les Meravelles which is about 10 minutes away from the airport. Perfect for us as we didn't want to travel far for such a short stay. The other reason I chose Les Meravelles is because it is next door to a place called Can Pastilla which I visited often as a child as my dad used to work and own apartments there. I wanted to visit here while we were there so I could see what i could remember and see if much had changed.
Oh, by the way, the hotel we stayed in is called Pure Salt Garonda and my oh my was it beautiful! It's a 5 star hotel on the Playa de Palma beach and it really didn't disappoint. With beautiful views of the beach, sea and further round the island from the restaurant and pool areas it was perfect for a little stress-free April getaway.

Friday

We flew from Leeds Bradford airport on Good Friday and arrived in Mallorca around 12.30pm. When we arrived we did not realise there was a police strike going on and that all the planes in the world had landed at the same time so getting through security was a massive pain in the ass! Luckily it didn't take too long so we got through within an hour and got the hell out of there!
As I said the hotel was literally 10 minutes away so we had booked a private transfer for ease. We arrived at the hotel around 1.30pm and our room was ready (yay!). Straight upstairs we went, got changed into some cooled clothing and it was definitely time to grab some lunch! We ate at a restaurant attached to the hotel, Mikel & Pintxo. I had a tuna salad. The thing I love about places like that is you get so much salad! Perfect for filling you up and getting those veggies in.
After our lunch we decided to just have a little wander around, go to the shops to get plenty of water and walk down the beach. We generally were just loving the sunshine!
Before long it was time to head back to the hotel, freshen up and get some dinner. We opted for the hotel restaurant- the one actually part of the hotel. I had a Goats Cheese Salad starter and Cod Fillet with Sautéed Vegetables. It was very posh! So much so that I didn't dare get my phone out to take many photos! I did manage to get the fish though :). It was really very nice but with a lot of 'posh' places the serving sizes weren't very big! I was still a little hungry but decided to skip pudding and just head to bed. It had been a long day.

Saturday

What did we do today? Apart from a leg session in the gym in the morning- we did nothing. Literally chilled the F out in the sunshine until about 4pm and then went for a nap! It was a little chilly by the pool so we ended up on the beach by the afternoon. Don't be fooled- it may have been 25 degrees but the wind in April is bloody cold over there!
In the evening we decided to go to a restaurant next door to the hotel- Asadito. What a fabulous decision that was!! No joke- the Chateaubriand was pretty much as good as it is the Savoy and it was only 70 euros for that with 3 side dishes, a bottle of wine and a water, CRAZY! The best bit about the dinner was cooking it ourselves! The Chateaubriand was brought out with a little BBQ style grill so we could cook it to how we wanted! I loved it!

Sunday

Today was the day to take a walk down to Can Pastilla (and buy Flossys). We walked down around 9am and had a quick look around. Not a great deal has changed apart from the bakery I used to visit as a child that did THE BEST sausage rolls was no longer there- damnit! I suppose it has been nearly 16 years after all! Overall no great changes really. I honestly didn't know what to expect but it was quite nice to re-visit. I then went and stocked up on shoes for me and my mum and exercised my Spanish. I've still got it...kinda.
We then walked back and again just chilled out for the day- until I got a tad sunburnt- whoops! I had to retire back to the room about 3pm as I had caught the sun a little too much. Again we napped and then decided to order room service for dinner.
I had Feta and Tomatoes, Salmon and Sautéed Vegetables and a Fruit Platter because you can't beat the fresh fruit over there!

Monday

Today was home day so we literally got up, had breakfast and left for the airport :(.
We had a truly FAB and relaxing weekend away and I can't wait until the next time!

Oh, just wanted to show you all as well that when you are on your way to land in Mallorca you can see the little village where I grew up and went to school! I love that part of the flight and always look out for it :). Below is the best picture I got.
