Evelyn's café bar Manchester- review |
|
Evelyn's Café Bar is situated in the Northern Quarter a quick walk away from the busy city centre. I came across this place on Instagram when someone I follow had put a post up about eating there. The food looked amazing and so I took a look at their Instagram page and checked out their website. I had a browse through the online menu and really liked what I saw. For someone who eats a healthy and clean diet Evelyn's looked like the perfect place to eat. I was planning on heading over to Manchester to visit family so it was the perfect time to try it out. I booked a table online as I wasn't sure how big or busy the place got. Now, I only had to wait a week!
The week flew by (thankfully!) and myself and Karl arrived in Manchester. We were staying at a hotel just down the road so it was a quick 5 minute walk and we were at the door ready for some food! We didn't quite know what to expect from the place but before we even walked in we could see it was a cool, calm and modern place to be. We headed inside and were instantly greeted by a waitress. She had our table ready so we headed over and sat down. We were instantly asked if we would like some water for the table while we look at the menu so we said yes. I had a look round the café bar as Karl looked at the menu. It had a really cool and modern vibe to the place which I instantly liked. I knew then I would like everything about the place. Our table water arrived and we were ready to order drinks. I stuck with the water and Karl ordered a beer. The waitress asked if we would like something to snack on while we chose our meal. We went for the Smashed Avocado, Pickled Chilli and Crackers.
The waitress returned to take our order and bring us the Smashed Avocado starter.
I took one taste of this and loved it! I'm not the biggest fan of avocado but it was so creamy! The crackers were really quite spicy (even the slightest bit of spice gets me!) but the avocado took the kick away which made it perfect. It was just what we needed to set us up for a main dish.
I decided to go for the Chicken Skewers, Peanuts, Soba Noodles and Citrus and Karl had the ECB Beef Burger, Sriracha Mayo, Kimchi and Shoestring Fries.
Once we had finished off our avocado and crackers our plates were collected and our main courses soon followed.

Well, I think the picture says it all about my main...Delicious!
The presentation was so pretty I didn't want to ruin it! Ok, maybe that's a little white lie...I dug in straight away :P
The chicken was tender and juicy, the spiralled vegetables were crisp and tasty and the noodles were really good! I wasn't quite sure what Soba noodles were but I do know I really like them! The peanuts and coriander made great little extras to the flavour so I definitely really enjoyed this course. In fact I more than enjoyed it, I loved it!
Karl's meal was also really good although he decided it was too good to wait for me to take a photo so you will have to use your imaginations on that one! If mine was anything to go by then it will have been amazing too.
Next up was pudding!! :D
I chose the Yuzu Posset, Blackberries and Chi and Karl went for the Apple Crumble and Creamy Custard.

I really hadn't quite experienced good healthy food like it! Everything about the food and atmosphere was just perfect...so much so that we even went back for breakfast the next day!! Take a look below at what we had for breakfast. All I will say is...the best pancakes and coffee I have ever had!
