filmore and union- york |

When looking for somewhere to eat out, York is definitely the place to be. It has such a huge range of options ranging from Italian restaurants and Spanish Tapas bars to Indian cuisine and popular high street chains like Pizza Express and Nandos.
When it comes to healthy foods though there doesn't seem to be a great deal on offer...until I discovered this. Filmore and Union situated on Low Petergate offers a huge variety of healthy meals and take away options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also offer some great juice and smoothie options and snacks if all you are looking for is a quick pick-me-up on the go. It is nestled away in one of the side streets away from the high street but still in the perfect central position to be able to be seen and accessed quickly when out for a day in York.

I heard about Filmore and Union from a friend and thought that next time I was in York I would try it out. So myself and my partner did just that.
When we arrived it was lunchtime so we weren't quite sure if we would be able to get a table in the upstairs restaurant. Luckily for us there was one table for two left! We sat down and had a browse through the lunch and drinks menu. The menu offered the perfect amount of options for us, and all healthy too! There are 'Small Plates' if you just fancy something small or 'Large Plates' if you are looking for something a little bit bigger. They also offer a variety of sharing platters, afternoon tea and 'Junior Plates' for little ones. I decided on a small portion of 'Filmore Beef Meatballs' and a 'Ritual Cleanse' juice. Oh, and a side of sweet potato wedges :).
The food was absolutely delicious! The meatballs were perfectly cooked and came with a selection of three different types of bread. The tomato and roasted red pepper sauce was just the right amount of 'tomato-y' for me too. The sweet potato wedges were soft and fluffy and tasted great too.The juice was refreshing and easy to drink and had the perfect balance of apple, spinach, celery and cucumber.
After eating that delicious food we couldn't leave without trying one of the desserts. We both went for 'Wil's Famous Chocolate Brownie' and we both now know why it has the word famous in the name, it was amazing! Perfectly crisp and crunchy on the outside and gooey and soft on the inside.

The beauty about Filmore and Union is that you are spoilt for choice when it comes to healthy, delicious food. You can also visit a Filmore and Union in the following places due to their huge success-
Harrogate, Wetherby, Leeds Victoria Quarter, Ilkley, Skipton, York Station and Moortown as well as the one in York city centre.
So, if you are ever in any of these places then please pop by one of their cafes, I would highly recommend it! I am already thinking about when we can next go to sample some of their delicious protein pancakes I spotted on the breakfast menu!
