I'm Running a Marathon!!! |
|
Date: Sunday 8th October
Time: 9.30am
Place: York, North Yorkshire
Organisers: The Yorkshire Marathon Series
Running For: Martin House Children's Hospice
Can you believe I've actually entered a marathon?!?!? Nope, me neither!
I'm still asking myself how my husband managed to talk me into this?! I mean...26 miles of non-stop running?! Not really my idea of fun! Saying that though, I am kind of excited! You're probably wondering what there is to be excited about? Well, let me tell you!
1. First and foremost, 26 miles is a HELLA long way! Completing that distance will be THE BIGGEST achievement in my fitness journey! I can't even begin to imagine how amazing it's going to feel completing something like that.
2. I'm doing it for a very worthy cause. Martin House Children's Hospice provides family led care for children with life shortening conditions. This charity really does amazing things for children and their families.
3. It gives me a goal and something to really work towards. I'm all about having goals in all aspects of life so this is my new goal in the fitness side of things.
4. Sometimes, you just gotta do things completely out of your comfort zone! Running is not my strong point by far. I ran a Half Marathon in May and I'm not going to lie, it was tough! My forte in fitness is definitely weight training so having something completely different to do and work towards will be really interesting, I hope!
My training starts next week. I have a 16 week training schedule that I downloaded from the Yorkshire Marathon Series website. I am going to tweak it a little and still continue to weight train and do yoga each week but I will need to incorporate running into my schedule again. I am looking forward to playing around with my training and diet (more carbs, yay!) to work out what works and what doesn't. If ANYONE has any advice on diet, training and mental preparation or has ran a marathon before then please get in touch!! I would love to hear your advice as I am complete novice to marathon training and running. All advice will be very well received!!
If you would like to follow my marathon training journey then please follow me on Instagram! I will be posting weekly updates on how I'm getting on/feeling. I will also write another blog post a few weeks in to keep you updated on progress!
I have also set up a Just Giving page so if any of you would like to donate to this fabulous charity then click below...
