it doesn't have to be difficult... |

Over the past few weeks I have been bombarded with so many questions around my health, fitness and general life routine! Not only through my social media channels but from people that I see and speak to each and every day. Questions and comments like "How do you stay fit and healthy ALL the time?" and "It's so hard being healthy". Why? Why is it so hard?!
Let me tell you- it ISN'T hard.
"I did eat well for a while but then I put it all back on again when I stopped"- I hear this all the time!! Guys, being healthy isn't about a quick fix or eating well for a while and then going back to bad habits- its a LIFESTYLE CHANGE. I know you have heard this before but it's true. There 'aint no quick fix people! Yes, taking the step to completely changing your lifestyle is a challenge and a big commitment, I'm not going to deny that, but it doesn't have to be hard and make you want to quit after 5 minutes! It's all about education, learning and your mind.
Health and fitness isn't just about what you put on your plate or the exercise you do, its about your mind too. Mind-set plays a HUGE role in being healthy. Your mind is the ultimate force in your body and yes, sometimes you have battles with it, but ultimately you are in control of your own mind and what you say goes. At the end of the day- if you want it so bad then you will do it- simple.
Eating well is also a subject that I get asked about quite often. A lot of people presume that I eat very little, don't eat 'bad' foods or workout a hell of a lot to, and I quote, "burn it off when I eat something bad". Ermm...none of the above!!! That whole 'I need to go to they gym to burn off whatever' is actual crap. If you have that relationship with food then that isn't healthy so please stop thinking like that. Anyway- that's for another day!
So, you want to know what I actually do and why it's not difficult?
I eat consciously. I move my body.
Yes, that's what I do. I workout sometimes 5 times a week, sometimes 3 and sometimes maybe only once. But, I make sure my workouts count. None of this half-arsed approach. I put 100% into my workouts each time (ok, maybe 90% sometimes) but I MAKE THEM COUNT. I don't use exercise as a punishment for eating a chocolate bar or having a pizza. I do it to keep my body active and because I love working out! I love feeling strong and even though the sweat is actually vile sometimes, I bloody love the feeling of smashing an intense workout.
I also eat a healthy and well-balanced diet (I hate that word but you get me yeah?!). People assume you have to live off salad leaves and chicken to be healthy. That is far from the truth. Eat your veggies, fruits, complex carbs, a good protein source and some chocolate and you'll be happy. Don't try to overcomplicate with numbers and weighing stuff. Enjoy the journey. Enjoy the food. Enjoy being active. Enjoy some god damn chocolate!
See, its not so hard right?!
So, my message to you- Relax a little and stop putting so much stress on yourself. Life is a journey, enjoy it.
