Looking Back at January + Goal Update |
|
January…where the hell did it go?! I know they say time flies but seriously?! I don’t remember it ever going this fast!!
I thought I would write a little something about how my January has gone and how I’m getting on with my goals. If you remember my 2017 goals post (check it out on my blog page if you haven’t seen it) I talk about life goals as well as fitness and health goals. I have some pretty big aspirations for 2017 but with hard work, consistency and dedication I believe I can do whatever I put my mind to! Can you tell I’m in a super positive mood right now? J
Anyway, back to the original topic…
January has been a pretty huge turn around in my work life. I left not only my job but my career and all I know ‘work-wise’. I made the decision to do this in December last year but I am so glad I did. As I write this I am only on day 2 of having left but I already know it was definitely the right decision. Opportunities have already arisen for me that I am pretty excited about and extremely grateful for!
I visited London a couple of weeks ago for the HBC x Event: Brands and Bloggers Networking. This was very exciting and great to put faces to many people I interact with on social media and meet new people too. It was also great to see some brilliant up and coming brands. 2017 is going to very exciting!

So, how am I getting on with my goals I hear you ask:
Fitness and Health
One of my main goals within this was building my strength back up to what it used to be. In my mind I have given myself a couple of months to achieve this and I am well on my way. Admittedly I haven’t been working on my pull-ups because I have concentrated more on my deadlifts throughout January. I haven’t been neglecting my upper body strength though- I have been doing plenty of heavy upper body training days and training my shoulders, back and biceps ready to get myself back into pull-ups. With regards to deadlifts my aim is to get to 100kg once again. I am now at 80kg and progressing each week so I’m pretty confident I will have it in the bag by the end of February.
I will also admit that my running hasn’t really been happening to be honest. I just honestly haven’t had the time trying to fit it all in around a full time job and all my other training. But, I now have a lot of free time so the running WILL be happening!! It needs to otherwise I will end up crawling around the 13 miles in May! Game face ON!
The health and food side of everything has been pretty bloody brilliant! I have found the love for cooking again and I have been super consistent in my meals and fuelling my workouts. If you guys follow me on Instagram then you totally know what I’m talking about. Food EVERYWHERE!!

Travel
We have two super exciting weekends away booked already this year! Prague in a couple of weeks and Mallorca in April. Even though Prague is going to be freezing I am really excited to go. I am very much a sunny holiday kind of person (I think growing up in the sunshine has something to do with that) so the thought of going somewhere that requires a winter coat and a hat was a bit scary and completely against my ‘normal’ choice, but I am very excited to explore the city and just experience something completely different.
We are still yet to book our official honeymoon too. I think we have decided on Mexico- see…hot and sunny is my thing! We are hoping to get that booked in the next couple of weeks. Yay!!

Life
As mentioned above I have got my Mojo back for cooking and baking. I am aiming to bring you one or two new recipes per week and if you visit my blog regularly you will see I’ve already brought you two new ones in January J. I have plenty of other ideas all jotted down everywhere so keep coming back and see what I’ve been making! If any of you have anything you’d like to see then by all means let me know! I would love some suggestions from you.
My blog will continue to go strong and I will be bringing you LOADS more content in the future. I have a pretty long list!!
To pretty much sum up my January in one word it would be…BRAVE.
I’ve taken on things I would have never dreamed of and almost gone down the ‘f**k it’ road! So far so good! At the end of the day you’ve got to enjoy what you do and do what you enjoy. I am no longer willing to live my life wondering ‘what if I had done that?’ instead of just going for it. Yes there are going to be bumps and mountains in the road ahead, even setbacks I’m sure, but I am excited for what’s to come!
Thanks for reading guys!
